Linden United Methodist Church
535 Main Street
Linden, WI 53553

HISTORY: Linden UMC was built in 1851 and is the oldest Methodist Church in continuous use in Wisconsin. A growing congregation prompted the addition of a gallery within the stone structure around 1870. The family-style pews with swinging doors are still the original walnut-trimmed oak. On the lower level original pews have been replaced with more comfortable ones. Around 1877 the present steeple was added. Today, worship music is supported by a piano and electronic organ on the main floor in addition to a pump organ up in the gallery.
